What we publish, how we check it, and how paid placement is kept separate from reporting. Short version: if we cannot stand it up, it does not run.
What gets published
Running the business, field service software, job costs and pricing, marketing and lead sources, and the tools that do the work. Written for the owner and the operations manager — one van or twenty. An article has to change a decision: what to charge, what to buy, who to hire, what to stop doing.
Checking a claim
- Pricing, labour rates, close rates and lead costs are attributed to whoever produced them, with the market and the period stated. A national average is not your market and we do not pretend otherwise.
- Where a number comes from a vendor or a franchise group, the sentence says so.
- Licensing and permit rules vary by state and city. We name the jurisdiction we are describing rather than writing as if there were one rule.
- If we could not confirm something, we say we could not confirm it.
- No invented quotes, no made-up customers, no reviews written in the voice of contractors who do not exist.
The wall between editorial and paid
This publication is funded commercially, partly by paid partner content. None of that reaches the desk. A partner does not see a piece before it runs, cannot buy a good write-up and cannot get a bad one removed.
Paid work is a separate product and is marked as one: Partner content label, disclosure panel, kept out of the editorial feed, outbound links marked rel="sponsored". We say no to paid work that is off-topic or that would leave an owner with the wrong idea about what something costs or does.
Tools
Software, AI included, is used for research and production. Nothing is published unread. A person edits every article and the publication owns the accuracy of it, whatever wrote the first pass.
When a piece changes
Facts change — prices especially. When they do we update the article and date the update on the page. We do not bump the date on an article we have not touched.
